Paul Surf

Rooted in the tradition of handmade, precision design, Paul Surf is inspired by the slow beauty of mid-century surfboard shapers from California to Hawaii. As the premier NYC surfboard shaper, Paul J. Schmidt's process of excellence comes down to the last detail in everything he touches. With a thoughtful approach to design, I helped Paul Surf launch a line of clothing and accessories they could offer to their growing surf clientele. When commissioned by Oakley to shape a series of boards for their NYC installation, I worked with Paul to develop custom graphics that were printed on fiberglass and inlayed on each surfboard deck. Each design coincided with his vision for representing the iconic shapes of the 90's Oakley glasses he grew up with.
